There is a lot of speculation regarding the health condition of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un . Kim has not attended any government function after attending Politburo Meeting on 11 Apr . Doubt has been raised when he has not attended his grandfather Kim π Sung the founding father of North Korea’s 108 Birthday anniversary on 15 April which is most important event of the country’s calendar . There are unconfirmed news coming from CNN and South Korea that Kim is not well due to oversmoking , obesity and excessive fatigue and had cardiovascular procedure recently .
Possibly at present , he is recupping in Wonsan family Villa in Eastern Coast since train has also been seen parked by satellite imagery which is usually used by Kim for his travel rather than moving by air. South Korean news agency and NK Newspaper run by North Korean defectors which publishes news about North Korea has also reported that NO unusual activity has been noticed from North Korea giving indication that he is alive . Even in 2014 , Kim disappeared and was not seen in Public for five weeks due to ankle surgery . Chinese have also sent doctors team in North Korea to assist and assess medical condition of Kim. But this is also fact that North Korea being Communist Country is shrouded by secrecy and difficult to get reliable and correct inputs. Even in 2011, the death of Kim’s father was hidden for some time before it was publically declared. Doubt has also been raised since Sister of Kim(31 Years) who is five years younger and studied with him in Switzerland and considered as his successor has been recently inducted in Party’s Politburo on 11 Apr.
Considering the complexity , nothing can be speculated with certainty regarding health of North Korean Leader. Even US is not very certain about the health of Kim which can be made by the comments of Donald Trump. In past, US had very challenging relationship with North Korea due to its nuclear program . North Korea is nuclear threat specially for US and its allies. Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un had two meetings in Singapore and Vietnam in 2018 &19 respectively regarding de neuclearisation of North Korea with out achieving any concrete results. North Korea is presently on Black List of FATF along with Iran due to its nuclear program and urgently need aid from world bodies like IMF to improve its financial and economic conditions. Present political uncertainty and Cornovirus will add more hardship to the people of North Korea.
